Hello and welcome to the Year 3 page!

Introduction to Year 3

In Year 3 we have a colourful and inviting classroom which overlooks our magnificent playground! In our classroom, we all try our best to demonstrate outstanding attitudes towards learning by trying our best in every lesson and understanding how our learning can shape and be used in the rest of our lives. In addition to this, we look to use our HART values to become our very best selves! These values include; honesty, adventure, resilience and teamwork.

Planning

This is our long-term planning overview for Year 3:

Every Half-Term we send more detailed curriculum overviews home for parents:

Year Group Specific information

This year, we are having a huge focus on mastering our times tables facts. Not only will this help to support the children when participating in the National Times Table Check in Year 4 next year, but having a strong grasp of our times table facts can help support children in a range of topics within maths. By strengthening our times table knowledge we are cutting down other barriers across the mathematic curriculum, furthermore strengthening our mathematic skills.

Each day children participate in their Speedies. This consists of a times table focus in which we join in with the BBC supermovers, followed by a timed times table grid to work on the recall of the times tables that we have learnt.

Take a look at some of the useful links below to help practise times tables at home.

Homework

In Year 3, we expect children to:

  • Read at least three times per week
  • Practise their weekly spellings list
  • Practise their times tables on TT Rockstars or equivalent

In addition, each half-term we set ‘Family Learning Projects’ linked to the curriculum being covered in school:
